# Manage peripheral till devices in ViKING Store Management

![Vign peripherals](/_fern-files/_img/7ed123e2d694ead203980f5461cb165738a71ee3a6bfc51ead79393f9e4d7a4e.webp)

Peripheral till devices are typically hardware devices like physical payment terminals (also known as EFT terminals) or receipt printers, but they can also be virtual devices like mobile payment services. The browsers used for till displays are also considered peripheral till devices.

In ViKING, you define all of your store's peripheral till devices in one place, and you then refer to the relevant ones for a given till when you [configure the till](/help/store-management/till-config).

You can manage peripheral till devices for a single store as well as for multiple stores at the same time in [ViKING Store Management](/help/store-management/wsa). Here, we primarily describe ViKING Store Management for single-store management, but if you've set up synchronization between your chain's enterprise service and your stores' store services, you can use ViKING Store Management for chain-wide store management as well.

## Add peripheral till device

1. Open ViKING Store Management in a browser, connect to the IP address or hostname of the required ViKING store service, and log in.

2. Navigate to device configuration:

3. Expand

![Wsa menu left expander](/_fern-files/_img/8da244b421dcf3f2ba0eca0ebe7b58e2c1453a0080e03aead0c6d26ae5ffe419.webp)

the menu in the left part of the page
2\. Expand **Store maintenance**
3\. Select **Device configuration**

3. In the top right corner of the **Device configuration** page, click

![Wpua addplus](/_fern-files/_img/4c21b8e227893961d1464c7867a06bf63547a0730af3423caa0b7745103d5524.webp)

.
4\. In the empty row that's added, specify the following:

* **ID:** The unique number that will identify the peripheral device. The number is a key field that you can't edit later.

If your organization uses a special numbering scheme for peripheral devices, it's important that you follow that scheme. Ask your Fiftytwo administrator if you're in doubt.
* **Description:** A short, descriptive name of the peripheral device.

If your organization uses a special naming scheme for peripheral devices, it's important that you follow that scheme. Ask your Fiftytwo administrator if you're in doubt.
* **Type:** Select device type, for example EFT, CMS, scale, or printer.

  > **Tip**
  >
  > EFT means Electronic Funds Transfer (that's payment terminals) and CMS means Cash Management System (that's an automated solution for end-to-end cash handling that typically provides features for intake of coins and banknotes and helps you automate cash-handling through to reconciliation).
* **Text section:** Specify the four-character code of the ViKING text section that contains the relevant peripheral device configuration parameters, for example `#BRW` for the text section that contains configuration parameters for browsers or `#EFT` for the text section that contains configuration parameters for payment terminals.

  #### What's a text section?

It's a text-based configuration of an element in a ViKING solution, for example of how a receipt should be structured, how payment terminals should work, or how big browser windows should be. Text sections are typically set up and stored on your ViKING store service by a Fiftytwo consultant when you get your ViKING system, so that you can simply refer to them instead if having to write the configurations yourself. Ask your Fiftytwo consultant if you're in doubt about where to find your text sections.
* **Section:** Specify the heading of the text section segment that contains the specific configuration for the required peripheral device type.

  #### What's a text section segment?

A text section with configuration parameters is structured into one or more segments that each represent a particular configuration. For example, the `#EFT` text section with payment terminal configuration parameters will contain a segment for each payment terminal type that your organization uses, for example a segment about Ingenico Lane/3000 configuration and a segment about Verifone P400 configuration. So if the peripheral device that you add is a Verifone P400 payment terminal, and the `#EFT` text section has a segment with Verifone P400 configuration parameters that has the heading `[VerP400]`, specify `VerP400` (without the angled brackets used in the text section itself).

5. In the right side of the newly added row, click

to add the peripheral device.
6\. Repeat steps 3-4 for any other peripheral devices.

## Manage existing peripheral till device

1. Find the required peripheral device:

* In the filters section at the top of the page, search

for the peripheral device's number, description, or type.

  >

2. Edit the peripheral device's properties as required. You can't edit an existing peripheral device's ID number.
3. Click
